New Miss Antigua and Barbuda Crowned

Antigua & Barbuda has crowned a new queen after over five hours of intense competition.
Self-proclaimed ‘tomboy’ Ayana Dorsette walked away with the title of Miss Antigua & Barbuda 2017 after winning the opening and platform and costume segments. The crowd favourite was also presented with the award for having the most spirit.
Dorsette, who broke into tears when she was announced the winner, says she is excited that all her hard work paid off.
Following close behind her was Rohanna Smith, who copped the 1 st Runner-up spot, was also adjudged the winner of the swimsuit and evening wear segments and received the award for the most disciplined delegate.
She was followed by Affianna Rodney, who emerged the 2 nd Runner-up, was awarded the top prize in the talent segment and was presented with the prize for most congenial and the people’s choice award.
Meantime, Shaquan Yorke completed the top four delegates after being crowned the 3 rd Runner-up and being awarded the prize for the interview segment, which was held before the night of the competition.
The controversial Miss Antigua & Barbuda show was pushed from its earlier 7:00 PM start to 8:00 PM. Despite minor technical difficulties and wardrobe malfunctions, the show saw little delays or snags.
