A 26-year-old man charged with murdering former St. Peter MP Asot Michael appeared in St. John’s Magistrates’ Court for his second hearing since arrest.
Alexta Francis will return to court May 29 for a committal hearing after prosecutors requested an adjournment, citing the case file remains with investigators.
Defense attorney Leon Symister criticized the delay, noting the contrast between the swift arrest and slow case preparation. Francis was charged with murder three days after Michael, 54, was found stabbed to death in his Dry Hill residence on November 5.
Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason presided over today’s hearing.
