St Paul MP Chet Greene has sent condolences to the family and loved ones of Kergus Martin of Liberta who was brutally murdered on Tuesday night.

Martin, 43, was gunned down near East Bus Station in a horrific incident that injured three others – two of them critically – and brought ‘Last Lap’ Carnival festivities to an abrupt halt.

Greene posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, “It was less than one year ago that I celebrated with the couple on the occasion of their wedding.”

The Foreign Affairs Minister went on to express his sympathy to the wife of the deceased, Charlene Martin, conveying his love and prayers to the family during this difficult period.

He bid farewell to his friend and constituent, who goes by the alias “Lion”, whose life was cut short by a senseless act of violence.

Facebook users commenting beneath the post offered comforting words and condolences to the bereaved wife, family and constituents of St Paul’s.

Comments included, “So sad RIP Lion, Charlene condolences to you and the rest of the family, so sad, stand strong sister, EP Chet Greene, hang tough bro, God is good and He is able.”

Martin is the country’s sixth homicide of the year.
