MP Lake remains in hospital

Member of Parliament for St John’s Rural South, Eustace “Teco” Lake was still hospitalised up to late yesterday, in stable condition, with little change to his condition as reported by the government on Thursday.
The minister of Works and Housing, according to hospital sources, remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) receiving treatment for complications with his kidneys and other health issues.
Reports are that his blood pressure had been elevated on Wednesday and Thursday but had improved yesterday, but he still needed a respirator to help him breathe.
On Thursday, the government’s Chief of Staff Lionel “Max” Hurst had confirmed to OBSERVER media that his colleague was heavily sedated and needed a respirator to help him breathe.
Hurst said he had received this information from the Director of Medical Services, Dr Albert Duncan, who advised the government that Lake is “comfortably resting” and is expected to make a full recovery.
Lake, who has admittedly been ill for several months now, had been travelling abroad for treatment.
He reportedly fell ill early Wednesday and went to a physician who advised him to go to the hospital. Lake was later admitted to a private medical facility before he was transported to MSJMC late Wednesday.
The government, on Thursday, dismissed rumours that the minister had died or was on the verge of dying.
Meantime, Hurst and Prime Minister Gaston Browne asked the nation to pray for the St John’s Rural South MP.
