November 23 – more than a year after a road accident claimed the life of Annik Lawrence – the man accused of causing her death will have his committal hearing.

Lawrence was a passenger on a motorcycle reportedly driven by the defendant who is said to have lost control of the bike, causing the pair to fall.

Shortly after the tragic incident, Jameel Adams was charged with causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the accident that resulted in the death of the 24-year-old. Yet the case is still in the lower court.

The accident took place on November 14 2022 on All Saints Road, just a few days before Lawrence’s birthday.

According to police sources, Adams also sustained injuries.

Adams, from Bendals, has been on bail since his first appearance in the Traffic Court before Magistrate Dexter Wason in December 2022, where his license was suspended.

He has since been waiting to hear whether or not the evidence against him will warrant the case being sent to the High Court.

But several adjournments have been granted with the latest one pushing the next hearing past the anniversary of the victim’s death.
