Saida Kelser Twila Joseph has pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of a rifle, taking the pressure off her father and brother who were jointly accused with her for the crime.
The 29-year-old Bendals woman told Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel-Edwards she was keeping the weapon for someone and that her dad, 60-year-old George Franklyn Joseph and her 31-year-old brother Kelsey Adderly Joseph, had absolutely nothing to do with the weapon.
The mother of four has since been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison for sentencing on March 18.
The police said they went to the family’s Bendals home on Thursday, March 7, with a search warrant for illegal substances and weapons.
During the search they found the .22 Winchester Magnum rifle, with Simmons 8-Point 4-12X40mm riflescope.
The high-powered weapon was in the daughter’s bedroom, but the discovery nonetheless resulted in the arrest of all family members who were at home during the search.
They were all charged jointly on Saturday after police recorded statements from them.
Since the young woman admitted guilt to the offence, the charge of unlawful possession was withdrawn against her father and sibling who pleaded not guilty.
