Playing at the JSC Sports Complex on Tuesday in the Cool and Smooth Interschool Basketball League, the Antigua Grammar School suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of their old rivals St Joseph’s Academy with a 7-41 loss in the Miniboys Secondary School fixture on Tuesday afternoon.
The talented Joshua James top scored with 14 points while Nathan Matthew had 12.
Giovanni Hodge scored four points out of the seven points for the Grammarians.
In the Senior Boys match against Sir Novelle Richards Academy, they were victorious with a 56-20 win. Najee Simons had 14 points while Rowan Christopher netted 11 points. Hezekiah Payne and Shaquan Bishop shot 9 and 7 points respectively for the Academy side.
In the matches played in the Senior Girls Division on Wednesday 24th January, AGHS beat Irene B Williams Secondary by just two points with a nail-biting 17-15 victory, with four points each scored by Sakora Prince, Joy Shaw and Ruchira Daley.
G. Abbott was Irene B’s top scorer with eight points. Princess Margaret School took a 30-9 win over Christ the King High School with Kayla Melvin top scoring in the match-up.
In the Mini Boys Primary Division, Greenbay Primary won by 14 points in their game against Potters Primary with an 18-4 score, while TN Kirnon beat JT Ambrose 6-2.
