After a resounding victory on Saturday afternoon, their first of the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under 17 Tournament, beating the Windward Islands by 74 runs the Leeward Islands Rising Stars were humbled by Barbados to lose by nine wickets inside nine overs.
In the first match, the Leeward Islands convincingly defeated Windward Islands by 74 runs. Leeward Islands posted 133 all out in 42 overs, with Devanand Singh top-scoring with 31. Windward Islands’ Cody Fontenelle impressed with bowling figures of six for 26. However, the Windward Islands’ batting crumbled under pressure, managing only 59 runs in 20.4 overs. Leeward Islands’ Isra-el Morton was the standout bowler, taking four wickets for just six runs.
The second match saw a reversal of fortunes with the Barbados U-17s dominating the Leeward Islands U-17s, securing a 9-wicket victory on Sunday.
The Leeward Islands were bowled out for a mere 90 runs in 18.2 overs, as Barbados’ Khomari Griffith led the bowling attack with three wickets for three runs.
In response, Barbados comfortably chased down the target, with Zachary Carter again starring with an unbeaten 62.
