The police say arson is suspected in the destruction of a vehicle which was found, burnt beyond recognition, in the Burma area Friday night. It is believed that the vehicle belongs to Gail Christian, Antigua and Barbuda’s non-resident ambassador to Mexico, who reported that her vehicle was stolen from her home that same night. Christian told OBSERVER media on the weekend, that at about 3 p.m. on Friday she parked her Mazda Cx-3 outside her home in Five Islands and some time after 7 p.m. she discovered that it was missing.
Two-hours later, around 9 p.m. Friday, the police and the Fire Department received a report about a burning vehicle in the Burma area. By the time they arrived on the scene, the vehicle was completely destroyed. Up to the time of going to press, the police were not able to confirm whether the vehicle belonged to Christian, who is also a senior member of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP). The police said they were awaiting further information before they are able to make that determination.
