A man is fighting for his life at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Garvin Crump, 41, of Upper Gambles, was seen lying in an unconscious and bloody state by the police just before 4 a.m., yesterday at Coolidge, in the vicinity of Unicomer.
His wife, Wilscia Crump told OBSERVER media that when the police found her husband, they used his cellphone to contact her.
“I got a call around 4 a.m. saying that they got my number from a guy they found lying at the side of the road. They told me it looks like a vehicle knocked him down and he was hardly speaking,” she said.
Crump said the police came to pick her up at her house and by the time she arrived at the scene the ambulance was already taking her husband away.
“I went with them. There was blood oozing from his ears, mouth, nose…. I don’t understand how someone could just hit him and never even turned back to see if he’s alive or he is dead,” she said sobbing.
The newly wedded woman told OBSERVER media that based on preliminary reports from the medical professionals at the hospital, her husband’s injuries could be fatal.
“He has a lot of bruising, a fractured neck, broken legs and arm…. They also found fluid in his lungs,” she added.
According to the distraught woman, “The doctors say the fact that he has fluid in his lungs means that he was hit really hard.”
The police are asking people to look out for anyone who may be turning their vehicle into any body shop for repairs since they believe the vehicle that hit the man must have been damaged.
