Minister Maria Browne earns law degree

The Minister of Housing, Lands and Urban Renewal, and the Parliamentary Representative for St. John’s Rural East Constituency, Maria Browne, graduated earlier this week with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Arden in the United Kingdom.

According to a release, her colleague ministers in Cabinet extended congratulations to the newly minted lawyer, who also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology

 “The Cabinet proudly recognises this accomplishment as a demonstration of her commitment to continuous education and professional development and a dedicated focus, delivering value to the people whom she represents in Parliament and those she serves in Government,” the Cabinet statement said.

Her husband, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, their son Prince, and her parents Purcell and Zandra Bird were present during the graduation ceremony, which was held at the Cathedral Church of St. Michael in Coventry on Wednesday. Minister Maria Browne was elected to Parliament in the 2018 general elections, and received the most votes (2,175) in the history of elections in the St. John’s Rural East Constituency, as well as the most votes in the 2018 general elections. She was also the youngest politician to be elected to the House of Representatives.
