Coach of the Jennings cricket team, Glen Miller, believes the addition of former Leeward Islands and national all-rounder, Orlando Peters, to his squad, has served to boost the confidence of his players and their chances of success throughout the 2020 domestic cricket season.

Speaking following his team’s eight wickets win over Caribbean Union Bank (CUB) Bethesda Golden Eagles in the cricket association’s Two Day competition last weekend, Miller said Peters brings much to the table.

“We all know that Orlando is super talented so I think we are going places. Orlando brings humility, leadership and I can’t desire better. Even me as a coach, I am learning from Orlando, so I am over the moon,” he said.

Peters made 59 runs and claimed two wickets in Jennings’ triumph over the weekend as they moved to the top of the table with 22 points after two matches.

The coach drew confidence from the fact that players are now more focused on the task at hand.

“Our team is focused, our players are focused. We are training hard and we believe in ourselves. For a long time, we’ve had this plan in place and also we got an added boost because we added Orlando Peters to our team. He is basically one of the best players in the Leeward Islands or even in the West Indies,” Miller said.

Miller said the aim is to simply take the season in small doses.

“We’re taking it one step at a time. We have this competition [Two Day] so we just want our guys to move from strength to strength. We are training hard, we are trying our best to stick to details and try to execute as best as possible,” he said. Anderson Carty Empire Nation are also on 22 points at the top of the standings, while PIC Blackhawks, Pigotts Crushers, and Rising Sun Spartans are all on 19 points. New Winthorpes Lions have 10, Bethesda and Combined Schools both have eight, while Bolans occupy the cellar with four points.
