Representatives from Metropolitan University College of Medicine informed the Cabinet that the school has received accreditation.
The university reports it can currently accommodate up to 150 students at its New Gate Street location. University officials stated they are seeking a larger space to meet their growth ambitions.
The Cabinet was told that Metropolitan University markets itself as the most affordable medical school in CARICOM, offering 5-year and 4-year programs.
While enrolment in offshore medical schools in the Caribbean has reportedly declined, university representatives believe they can increase enrolment through their course offerings and faculty qualifications.
