Kerry Mentore picked up three wickets while emerging as his team’s best batter on the day to lead Strictly Business to an eight-wicket triumph over PMS in the Antigua and Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA) Caribbean Alliance Insurance-sponsored 30 overs competition on Sunday.
Mentore claimed three wickets for just 10 runs in five overs to restrict PMS to 94 for 7 in their 10 overs. Eusi Kingston top scored for PMS with 43. Mentore then hit a top score of 39 while Raymond Leadeatte contributed with 19 as Strictly Business reached their target at 95 for 2 in just 9.3 overs.
Also on Sunday, Randino Turner top scored with 74 to help guide Buckley’s 3J’s to a 58 runs victory over Dredgers.
Turner’s knock helped to propel 3J’s to 165 all out in 24.1 overs with Denley Thomas adding 23 to the effort. Conroy Semple led the charge with the ball for Dredgers, claiming three wickets for 27 runs in four overs. There were two wickets each for Stelbert Plant (2/20) and Mervin Higgins (2/28).
Zavear Otto then claimed a five-for, picking up five wickets for 13 runs in 4.2 overs to help restrict Dredgers to just 107 all out after 20.2 overs. Mervin Higgins top scored with 35.
In the other 30 overs results, 300 defeated Sisserou by 58 runs. Batting first, 300 raised 164 for 8 in 25 overs with Molvin James making 63. Sisserou, in reply, were all out for 106 in 22.1 overs. Sylvester Scotland and Isaiah Viville both made 22.
Meanwhile, Potters Uprising were the biggest winners in the St John’s Co-operative Union-sponsored 15 overs Women’s Competition with a seven-wicket triumph over Clippers.
Batting first, Clippers made just 54 for six in their 15 overs with Menover Govia making 14 not out. Maria Davis picked up two wickets for 15 runs bowling for the victors. Uprising then got to 57 for three in 7.3 overs. Veteran, Nolia Elvin, top scored with 33 not out while Davis made 15 not out.
In a close encounter, Jennings Rockets defeated Bullets by three runs. Rockets made 74 for 5 in 15 overs with Chemique Benjamin making 41 not out. Bullets in reply, were all out for 71 with Eldora Sylvester making 15 not out.
In the other women’s encounter on Sunday, Enforcers defeated Flyers by six wickets.
