IFBB Elite Pro, Ambassador Melissa Seaforth, posed her way to a second major medal this year when she captured silver in the Bikini Fitness category at the IFBB Pro South America Show held in Paraguay this week.
The Antigua and Barbuda athlete, competing against 10 other professionals from across the globe, was second only to Larissa Dick of Brazil. Flavia Carneiro Mendez, also of Brazil, was third with Yissel De Leon of Mexico and Maheva Burgos of Venezuela fourth and fifth respectively.
Speaking with Observer media, Seaforth expressed satisfaction with her performance, adding that the goal is next month’s World Championships where she captured bronze last year.
“I am always proud of my performances and this one was no different, it was strategy to do a show ahead of the World Championships which is in four weeks as I prepare to do more shows in the fall season. I tend to get better conditioning and presentation wise and bring an overall better package as the season progresses so we are off to a great start and I look forward to my improvements in four weeks as I prepare for the World Championships in Madrid, Spain,” she said.
The athlete said she will now turn her attention to the October 12th World Championships, as she endeavours to cap an already fantastic year.
“My performances for 2024 have been quite positive, and we’re hoping for me to continue trending forward because I would have captured third place at the Roger Boyce Classic in May earlier this year, and last night [Tuesday] I took home silver so we’re waiting for that gold and we will just continue to put in the hard work and stay focused because I know I am very close to that target, and we look forward to see what the rest of the fall season brings,” Seaforth said.
Seaforth, who turned pro in 2020, became the fifth sports personality to be given an ambassadorial role in 2022. She joined Marsh-built Motors’ Jason Marsh, American professional basketball player Kemba Walker, US hurdler Rai Benjamin and bikini fitness athlete Kimberly Percival as athletes all appointed to similar roles in 2022.
