Minister of Sports, Daryll Matthew is seeking to assure the public that work at the lone track and field facility will continue soon.
Matthew who spoke briefly on the Good Morning Jojo Sports show blamed the inclement weather for causing a delay for little over a week.
He went into further detail about the project.
“We lost a little over a week and a half because of the rain but the work will continue.
“The most recent update that I have is that PASO, the Pan-American Sports Organisation had wanted to sign a new agreement with us, given that there is a new executive in the NOC (National Olympic Committee). Notwithstanding that it’s the same president, it’s a new board. So, they just wanted to ensure that the Board still supports the project,” he said.
The minister added that the NOC President, E.P. Chet Greene “has in fact signed off on the new agreement with PASO, so all is still moving according to plan.”
The former Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) president, however, said he could not immediately give a timeline for the completion of the project but would return with an update for the public at a later date.
