Conroy “Connie” Jones, who maimed the mother of his children by viciously chopping her about the body almost two years ago, has pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm to the woman who now says she stills loves him.
Jones, who threw in the towel after the victim and the doctor who examined her testified at his trial, has been further remanded for sentencing which is set for July 19 in the High Court before Justice Stanley John.
During the trial this week, after she recounted what occurred, the woman was crossed examined by Jones’ lawyer, Lawrence Daniels. She declared that she has forgiven the defendant after he apologised, adding that still loves him despite the brutality he dealt her and which has left one of her hands without full function.
According to Dr. Jason Paul, the woman – 27 years old at the time of the attack – will require surgery in order to regain full function of the hand.
The medical evidence revealed that the victim sustained as many as 15 injuries, including a fractured bone in her face, a broken tooth, and chops about the upper body, including to her face and head.
