Major upgrades are in the works for the Johnson’s Point Community Health Centre.
Molwyn Joseph, health and wellness minister, made that commitment during a tour of the facility on Tuesday.
According to a release from the ministry, the immediate areas to be tackled include the installation of shutters for the windows; the walls in the waiting area, which are showing signs of cracking as well as wear and tear; and the roof, which often leaks during heavy rainfall.
The minister also promised to outfit the community health centre with new chairs for the waiting area and to provide more medical supplies and equipment for doctors and nurses.
He has also promised additional fans and a refrigerator which will be used to store vaccines.
The visit to the southern section of the island came on the heels of another visit which the Minister made to the Gray’s Farm Health Centre last week. It also formed part of an island-wide tour to the country’s primary health-care facilities.
