ScrubLife Cares has launched its “Grow with the Flow: Christmas Essentials for the Girls” initiative, a combined menstrual product and toy drive aimed at supporting underserved women and girls in Antigua and Barbuda this holiday season.

The Christmas drive expands upon the organisation’s year-round “Menstrual Pantry” programme, which collects essential hygiene items including menstrual pads, hand sanitiser, deodorant, and other personal care products.

This sustained effort to combat period poverty has now been enhanced for the holiday season to include additional items and toys.

The drive, running until 15th December, seeks donations of essential hygiene items including menstrual products, self-care items, and toys.

ScrubLife Cares Founder Tanya Ambrose highlighted that these items are “often overlooked during the holidays,” though they remain essential needs.

“Often overlooked during the holidays, essential items like menstrual products and self-care items remain equity only, ensuring that girls and women feel supported and confident and cared for through this season,” Ambrose explained.

The organisation is collecting a wide range of items including scrunchies, hair ties, hand sanitiser, mini journals, personal care products, and toys for children.

“With this drive, we’re hoping to make sure no girl or woman feels left behind. These donations help meet both their physical needs and uplift their spirits by showing that they are supported by their community,” said Ambrose.

Community members can contribute through multiple channels, including the organisation’s Amazon wishlist (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/6IXNUQ5PGT28?ref_=wl_share) or by dropping off items at the National Training Agency on Redcliffe Street in the Beauty Rama Building.

ScrubLife Cares, described by Ambrose as “a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing health, education and resources to underserved communities,” particularly addresses period poverty and comprehensive reproductive and sexual health education.

“A little will go a long way for our girls and youth in our community,” Ambrose added, emphasising that even small donations can make a significant difference in the lives of young girls and women in the community.

Those wishing to donate can visit scrublifecares.org or contact the organisation directly through their social media platforms or via WhatsApp at 973-641-2527.
