On Monday 16th September 2019, a delegation of the local Chamber of Commerce held high-level discussions with the newly-appointed Indian High Commissioner to CARICOM, Dr. K.J. Srinivasa and his second in command, Mr. R.K. Perindia, on their first official visit since the High Commissioner’s recent posting.

According to a press release, the group tabled matters relating to “the burgeoning Indian economy, and the attendant business opportunities which exist to partner in a number of industries, as the world’s fifth leading economy seeks to enlarge its footprint in CARICOM.”

In addition, the release stated that the Chamber members learned of prospective opportunities for trade and investments in biotechnology, oil and gas, renewable energy, education, health, agro-processing, and pharmaceuticals, among a host of others.

The Chamber also “welcomed the occasion for increased trade and investment, and looks forward to holding further and wider discussions on concretising the opportunities on offer to benefit the business sector in Antigua and Barbuda,” the release said.
