Press Release — Providing compassionate and dignified care for residents at the St John Association of Antigua & Barbuda Inc (St John Hospice) is the main objective of RUBIS’ recent contribution of EC$13,000 towards the Association’s daily operations.
To enhance this goal, team RUBIS has also committed to beautifying the Association’s environment by visiting the hospice periodically throughout the year and assisting with the upkeep of the facility’s garden – an essential and cherished part of the facility.
Country Representative Raphaelene Jackson said it was an honour to assist such a stellar nonprofit organisation in its mission to provide care and respite for terminally ill persons. Jackson said it was noteworthy that the hospice is managed on a volunteer basis by a Board of Directors who give selflessly of their time.
“The St John Hospice relies primarily on fundraising, donations and contributions to offer excellent care to their patients. RUBIS is pleased to help ensure that the building and grounds remain beautifully maintained. This allows the terminally ill dignity and compassion in their final time, spent in a tranquil environment and cared for by professionally trained staff.”
Jackson said the partnership with the St John Association also fits well with RUBIS’ Corporate Social Responsibility roadmap, which is dedicated to supporting the communities RUBIS serves, focusing on education and healthcare.
Cathlyn Gilkes, the Administrator of St John Association of Antigua & Barbuda Inc, thanked RUBIS, noting that the organisation could not have been as successful without such assistance.
“Being a non-profit organisation, caring mainly for the terminally ill and offering short-term convalescent care at nominal rates so that no one is excluded from receiving care, we cannot do this alone. It takes the community’s involvement, from those who volunteer their time to those who offer some produce from their gardens, those who offer us cleaning and medical supplies and the generous corporate citizens such as yourselves who see value in our work.”
Noting that the facility focused on delivering a high standard of care, Gilkes said RUBIS’ donation would greatly assist in completing several building maintenance and improvement projects earmarked for 2025.
