Antiguan fraudster Leroy King is to be sentenced on April 24 after pleading guilty to his role in the Stanford International Bank (SIB) Ponzi scheme.

The former Financial Services Regulatory Commission boss admitted two charges – conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice – in US Federal Court on Thursday.

The 74-year-old from Dickenson Bay admitted he conspired with US financier Allen Stanford and others to obstruct the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) investigation into Stanford International Bank.

King is said to have facilitated Stanford’s criminal activities by hiding them from the Commission and other regulatory agencies.
