Saturday’s triple header in the ABFA Premier League saw impressive performances from Five Islands FC and Grenades FC, while Greenbay Hoppers edged past Pigotts Bullets in a match filled with penalty drama.

After a heavy defeat in the opening round of the new season, Five Islands picked up their first win and demonstrated their attacking power with a commanding 4-1 victory over Parham FC, led by Tev Lawrence’s first-half hat-trick. Lawrence found the net in the 31st and 39th minutes before completing his treble in first-half stoppage time. While Jamol Yorke pulled one back for Parham in the 63rd minute, Juan Melenciano Jr sealed the victory for Five Islands with an 89th-minute strike.

Red hot Grenades matched Five Islands’ goal tally with a 4-1 win over Green City FC. Barrington Blake opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 15th minute, though Green City’s Amali Colbourne quickly responded with a penalty of his own in the 18th minute. Ridel Stanislas restored Grenades’ lead just before halftime, with Rick Gordon converting another penalty in the 65th minute. Keiron Richards put the finishing touch on the victory with a goal deep in stoppage time.

In what proved to be a tale of missed opportunities, Greenbay Hoppers secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Pigotts Bullets SC. Jevorn Stevens gave Hoppers the lead in the 32nd minute, but the match could have seen more goals as both teams failed to convert from the penalty spot. Tyrique Thwaites missed for Bullets in the 66th minute, while Stevens couldn’t capitalize on his chance to double Hoppers’ lead in the 77th minute.
