To date, no arrests have been made, but investigations are continuing into the discovery of compressed “Arizona” cannabis in two barrels at the Deep Water Harbour on Tuesday.

The drugs, which carries a wholesale valued of $1,009,500, weighed in at 252 pounds, 6 ounces.

The illegal substance was discovered during a joint operation conducted by the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP), the Customs & Excise Division and the Antigua & Barbuda Port Authority, a release from the ONDCP said.

The barrels, which had been shipped from the USA to an address in Antigua, also contained a handful of personal effects.

Meantime, the ONDCP continues to work closely with other law enforcement and security agencies to demonstrate its diligence and commitment to keeping the streets of Antigua & Barbuda free of illegal narcotics, the release said.
