Ky-Mani Marley will headline the February 10 Reggae Beachfest in Dubai to mark his father’s 72nd birthday.
The show is scheduled for the Dubai International Marine Club, promoter Kenya Don told the Sunday Observer. It is the fourth staging of the event which celebrates the work of Bob Marley, who was born on February 6, 1945 and died May 6 1981.
“Dubai is growing as the multicultural destination, and our motto is to unite multiple cultures through music, food and entertainment,” read a release from organisers of Reggae Beachfest.
Since promoting his first reggae show in Dubai in 2002, the Kenya-born Kenya Don has followed up with similar events, including Jamaica Independence Party.
The shows feature mainly dancehall acts such as Cecile, Wayne Wonder, Dawn Penn and Tanto Metro and Devonte.
Over 2,000 West Indians live in Dubai, which is part of the United Arab Emirates. Many work in the airline industry.
