Kome FC and CPTSA Wings record big wins on opening day of Nations Cup

Kome FC and CPTSA Wings recorded big wins on the opening day of the Rhea Jarvis Nations Cup on Saturday in the Under-13 category.

Kome FC hammered Garden Stars/New Generation by a 7-1 scoreline.

National female player, Gabrielle Desouza was a goal shy of a hattrick for the victors, while teammates Delonte Phoenix, Kelmo Nathaniel, Tafari Parker, Jaden Thomas and Zeke Smith all found the back of the net once.

Jermaine Campbell scored the lone goal for Garden Stars.

CPTSA Wings followed suit with a big win of their own over Pigotts FC.

The 6-0 thrashing saw Joshua James earn a hattrick for the team while teammate Joshua Lake scored twice.

The sixth and final goal came from Mia Lake.

There were victories as well for Villa Lions FC and NorthCoast FC in that age category.

Villa defeated Young Warriors FC 2-1 while NorthCoast edged out Crashing Ballers, 1-0.

Kharique Joseph and Shumba Thomas found the back of the net for the Lions while Nolan Castiglioni scored the winning goal for NorthCoast.

Meanwhile, in the Under-6 section, CPTSA Wings beat Young Warriors FC 5-2, while Pigotts FC edged out NorthCoast 2-1.

Pigotts FC and NorthCoast FC played to a one-all draw in the Under-8 division, while in the Under-10’s, CPTSA Wings edged Young Warriors FC, 3-2, and NorthCoast FC and Pigotts FC played to a nil-all draw.

The youth league is being put on by the NorthCoast Juniors Football Club and is named in honour of the tournament’s founding organiser.

Jarvis, who passed away in December 2020, days after contracting the coronavirus, was instrumental in getting the tournament off the ground.

A moment of silence was held on her behalf on opening day.
