Former Indian spinner, Murali Karthik, has called for star batsman Virat Kohli to be rested for the second Test against the Windies as the series has not proven to be anywhere close to competitive.
The regional team was completely decimated in the first Test, going down by a massive innings and 272 runs inside three days.  Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and debutant Prithvi Shaw all scored centuries and the West Indies collapsed under the weight of chasing a massing 649 first innings total.  The Caribbean team was bundled out twice on day three of the encounter.
With such dominance with both bat and ball, Karthik believes a few of the key players can be rested for the second Test, especially the team’s captain Kohli.
“You should look at what you’re trying to get from this series. You’re looking for players for Australia,” Karthik told Star Sports India.
“Did Virat Kohli have to play? You can possibly win this Test series without Virat Kohli. The way he was rested for Asia Cup,” he added.
“Mayank Agarwal is somebody who has been picked. Are you looking at him for Australia? If you’re looking at him, would you want to have a go in Test match cricket here? Otherwise, I don’t think they have to change anything.” (www.sportsmax.tv)
