Kentish wins Regional tennis tournament

Young tennis star, Selene Kentish walked away with the top honors in the St. Lucia Under-16 Sub-Region 4 Transitional Series earlier today.

Kentish facing off versus St. Lucia’s Alannah Bousquet won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

She remained undefeated as she advanced to the finals sitting on the top position of the girl’s main draw at Gros Islet in St. Lucia after defeating Jorja Mederick 6-1, 6-0 in her semi-finals singles match on Day 2 of the competition on Thursday.

This follows her win on Day 1 over Alysa Elliot of St. Lucia 6-2, 6-2 and Aviana Edmund 6-1, 6-3.

Meanwhile, teammate Rodaine Monelle finished sixth in the boy’s category.

Monelle, after winning his first match 7-6, 6-2 over St. Lucia’s Jobas Sylvester, suffered doubles losses falling to Levi Hinkson of Trinidad and Tobago 3-6, 0-6 on Day 1 then losing in straight sets on Day 2 to Josh Gonsalves of Trinidad and Tobago.
