The 2016 Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) Business league champions, Jumby Bay and newbies, Cliff Hangers continue to make impressive showing in this year’s edition of the league as both teams remain undefeated.
Playing on Saturday night at the YMCA Volleyball Indoor facility, Jumby Bay who did not participate in last year’s competition picked up from their winning ways trouncing Media in straight sets.
The 25-10, 25-13 thrashing is Jumby Bay’s third straight victory in Zone 1.
In the other match played that night, newbies, Ministry of Festivals, Arts, Culture and Sports (MFACS) joined Jumby Bay in the winner’s circle, winning in straight sets, 25-7, 25-5.
Twenty-four hours later, Cliff Hangers pushed their undefeated streak to four.
The newbies thrashed ECAB in straight sets, winning, 25-23, 25-17 in the Zone 1 feature encounter while in the other Zone 1 match-up, Scotiabank edged out MEDSO, 2 sets to 1.
After winning the first set, 25-22, Scotia faltered losing the second, 14-25.
With the third and final set underway the teams were repeatedly evenly deadlocked but a number of unforced errors would cost MEDSO from upsetting Scotiabank who went on to win the match, 15-12 and the set.
Matches will continue on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. as defending champions, ABIIT, will battle Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB) while at 7:30 p.m., Police will face Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
Spectators are charged a general admission fee of two dollars.
