Secretary of the Baldwin Braves Basketball club, Arlene Josiah has called upon the public to come on board and support their ventures in aiding in the offset of costs for player, Lennox “Termite” McCoy.
McCoy who is also a part of the national set up for many years was involved in a freak accident earlier this month which resulted in him nursing a serious injury to his left eye with the possibility of losing his sight permanently.
The club has set a target of US $10,000.
“Everyone knows who Lennox is and I am hearing some persons say they don’t believe in walkathon but we have to start somewhere. There’s an account also set up at ECAB for those who want to make a monetary contribution and I know especially from the Gren-Gren community and the basketball fraternity that the support will come heavily but I just ask that persons come out and support a worthy cause.”
The club, in partnership with Torturer’s gym, will host a walkathon this Saturday starting at 5:30 a.m. from the King George V Grounds to Hawksbill and a ballerama on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the JSC Sports Complex.
“Sunday morning, we are planning an event up at JSC, bring a team and come. Six persons per team, EC $25 per person or EC $150 for the entire team and you can register the same morning, 8 to 9 a.m.”
Individuals are encouraged to contact Josiah at 736-8767, coach Craig “Imp” Anthony at 723-3767 or any member of the Braves club.
