Jets and Enforcers pick up victories in Volleyball league

Jets and Enforcers began their campaign in the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) league on a high note on Wednesday night at the YMCA Volleyball indoor facility.
Jets defeated Acme in straight sets in the female division winning, 25-17,25-14,25-18 while Sharkz fell in straight sets in the male category to former champions, Enforcers, 25-18, 26-24,25-10.
Last year’s female champions, Sagicor Paragons, found themselves in the winner’s circle as they ran over Da Squad in straight sets, 25-12, 25-12,25-14 on opening night.
The league officially opened last Saturday with seven female teams- Jets, Starz Nova, Starz North, Stoneville, Acme and Da Squad and 8 male teams- Enforcers, Stoneville, High Flyers A, High Flyers B, Sharkz, Pytonz and Renegades on parade as newly appointed Minister of Sports, Darryl Matthew served the first ball.
Games will continue on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. as Jets will face Starz Nova in the female division while in the male category, defending champions, Stoneville will battle High Flyers.
