Jennings United kept their quest for promotion to the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division on course with a close 2-1 victory over Police when they met at Jennings on Monday.

The win was United’s eighth in 12 matches as they move to 27 points and into the top three on the standings.

All three goals were scored in the first half with the lawmen drawing first blood via a Terrel Richards strike in the 15th minute.

The response was swift by Jennings United with Steven Roberts drawing the home team level just three minutes later. Shaquille Watkins put United ahead on minute 27, taking all three points for the promotion hopefuls.

Police remain on six points after 12 outings as they continue to struggle in the bottom half of the standings.

Meanwhile, former Premier Division champions Lion Hill enjoyed a resounding 7-0 win over another former top tier champion, Liberta Blackhawks, when they met at Freeman’s Village.

There were double strikes from Shemarah Andrew (5 and 61) and Marcus Marquis (28 and 54) as they led the charge for Lion Hill. Mekhi Nathan (57) and Jaquan Joseph (74) each scored once while an own goal by Algernon Hodge accounted for Lion Hill’s other conversion.

Lion Hill move to 10 points from 12 showings while Blackhawks remain at the bottom of the standings with just three points.
