Celebrations were in full swing for Antiguan and Liberta Blackhawks cricketer, Kofi James, as he recorded his maiden first class century on Thursday, on the second day of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes fourth round Cricket West Indies (CWI) regional four-day championship match.

James resumed after his overnight score of 61 and finished with 107 off 248 balls — including 10 fours and one six – out of the total of 382 for nine declared against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.

Debutante and fellow Antiguan Karima Gore posted a seven-wicket stand of 167, lifting the score from 121 for six to 288.

Gore — who also plays for the Blackhawks — 87 overnight fell seven short of his maiden First Class ton with 93 runs.

The Volcanoes have built a strong reply after two initial setbacks at 10 for two. They closed on 206 for two with captain Alick Athanaze on 208 for five.

They will resume on the third day with the Volcanoes still 176 runs behind the Hurricanes first innings total.
