Ten residents of Antigua and Barbuda who received citations for National Honours in November 2018 were officially presented with their insignias during the National Honorees Investiture Ceremony held yesterday at Government House.

At the ceremony, orders for appointment to the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation, the Most Illustrious Order of Merit and the Most Precious Order of Princely Heritage were made in the presence of family and friends of the awardees.

In 2018, during the Independence Commemoration and Ceremonial Parade at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG), businessman George Ryan and economist Martin Franklin received Antigua and Barbuda’s second highest national honour.

Franklin received the Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation (KGCN) for service in the field of economic development, heritage restoration, business and community service; while Ryan was accorded the honour of Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation (KCN) for his contribution to national development, particularly in the field of business and community service.

Yesterday, both men were officially knighted by His Excellency, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams, who is the Grand Master of the orders established by the National Honours Act No. 23 of 1998.
