A search party numbering around 100 people has gathered near the Fitches Creek area.
Residents told Observer Media the search party was called following a tip of a body being seen in the area. Police said the search was called after a tip of a body found.
Several police officers are coordinating the search by splitting residents in different groups to search scrub land.
The search was eventually called off after nothing was found.
