A house fire in Johnson Village has left one resident homeless after flames destroyed her three-bedroom home earlier today.
The sole occupant of one of the two homes consumed in the mid morning fire, identified as Ms. Martin, told reporters she “lost everything” in the blaze that was reported around 11:23 am. Fire police responded to the scene and worked to contain the fire.
Martin, an employee at Public Works, said she was at work when she received notification about the fire at her Johnson Village home. She indicated she will stay with someone temporarily until she can clear the land and rebuild.
“I can’t even rile up myself,” Martin said, noting she suffers from hypertension and doesn’t want the situation to affect her health.
According to reports, a neighbouring house that caught fire was allegedly unoccupied. Martin’s son had noticed the previous resident moving out approximately two days ago.

Fire officials have not yet released information regarding the cause of the fire or the full extent of the damage. The investigation is ongoing.
