Antigua and Barbuda claimed third place in the Caribbean Netball Association’s third ECCB International Series beating St Kitts and Nevis 52-49.

Playing in their final round robin match, Antigua and Barbuda found themselves battling to get and keep the upper hand over St Kitts and Nevis throughout the game. Supporters of the home team rallied around the Wadadli Girls, as they managed to come from behind to win after losing the first quarter 13-9.

With determination and grit, the home girls dug deep and were able to win the second quarter 12-9 with Rayana Regis sinking 11 out of 13 attempts.

Despite winning the second quarter, the Antiguan side still went into the second half behind by one point with the score 22-21. The third quarter saw the Wadadli Girls take the most attempts in any other quarter as they came out firing, and Regis was brilliant, netting 80 percent of her 18 attempts in the quarter.

The Antiguans won the quarter 19-15 which allowed them to take the overall lead 40-37.

The final quarter saw both teams tie 12-12. Although the girls from Sugar City had more attempts, it meant the home side defended well to keep their opponents at bay. Regis ended up scoring 45 points out of 54 attempts, while Aaliyah Gibson and Rochella Challenger scored 27/41 and 22/26 points respectively for St Kitts and Nevis.

In the other matches, Barbados ended the competition with an unbeaten record, winning all eight games beating St Vincent 54-39.

The Nature Girls of Dominica beat the Cayman Islands in a blockbuster of a game 55-54 with Anna Mar Panthier shooting at 93 percent average with 38 goals.

Grenada beat St Lucia 43-24 to claim the title, dethroning St Vincent and the Grenadines who were the previous title holders.
