Hoppers advance to semis

Defending champions in the Anderson Carty Gray’s Green Football League, Greenbay Hoppers was one of four teams to advance to the semi-finals of the playoffs, last Friday, at the King George V Grounds.

Hoppers. playing in the feature quarter-finals match-up, edged out Attackers United 1-0.

The champions earned the final semi-final spot in grand style as national junior player, Antyon Henry connected with a throw in from veteran Tamarley “Ziggy” Thomas to score the winning goal with two seconds left before the final whistle.

Master Ballers was the first team to qualify edging out last year’s finalists, El Guapo, 1-0, with a first half goal from Kenroy Stay.

The undefeated Ghetto Youth Connections were also stunned, receiving an early exit from the playoffs falling 3-2 to Bendals FC.

Meanwhile, in the other encounter, Anderson Carty Titans were also eliminated falling to Jennings by a 2-1 deficit, despite a goal from Rashidie Lewis.

The semi-finals of the league was held last week, while the finals is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday at 7 pm.
