Pastor Barrymore Baltimore’s plan to sell his luxury Lincoln Navigator was shattered yesterday when the black SUV burst into flames outside the Office of the Prime Minister.
Pastor Baltimore of the Church of God of Prophecy told OBSERVER media that the vehicle, registered A47878 had been having issues and it was picked up from the mechanic just mere hours before it went up in smoke.
“We took the vehicle to a technician, but he said we needed to get some parts so we were taking it back home. But, my sister had to drop off a letter something at the Prime Minister’s Office. She did call me and tell me the vehicle was overheating and minutes after she called and told me the vehicle was on fire,” he said.
No one was inside the vehicle when the blaze started. A thick plume of smoke was visible from people in the heart of the city.
Two fire trucks responded to the blaze, unfortunately the vehicle was extensively damaged with the entire engine unsalvageable. Both the driver’s side and front passenger side of the vehicle were gutted.
“It is a bit unfortunate. The most important thing is that she was not hurt and no one got damaged, we [were] at the Prime Minister’s Office so that is going to look a kind of how, but, what can we do, we will just have to cut our losses,” Pastor Baltimore said.
He said the vehicle was purchased several months ago, however, it was not in use because it needed several parts which were being sought.
The vehicle had been moved from one mechanic to the other because someone had expressed interest in purchasing it.
The SUV was towed away from the compound.
