Hatton man nabbed in million-dollar drug bust remanded

The Hatton man arrested by Officers of the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison. Deon Perkins, 41, was arrested on January 3, after a successful drug operation on Sir George Walter Highway.
Law enforcement officials seized 286 bricks of cocaine with a combined weight of 336.40 kilograms or 740.8 pounds with a total estimated wholesale value of $11,807,640. Perkin was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to transfer, being concerned with the supply of cocaine and drug trafficking.
He was taken before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh on Friday and committal proceedings are scheduled to begin on March 8. Perkins is also known to both the police and the ONDCP for his involvement in drug-related offences. In June 2014, he was arrested and charged by the ONDCP in connection with another cocaine seizure.
