Sandals APUA INET Grenades FC delivered a title-winning performance against the defending Champions All Saints United in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s Premier League action on Sunday, while Potters Tigers and FC Aston Villa enjoyed wins as well.
Arguably the blockbuster match of the season, Malcolm Stewart set the tone for Grenades early, finding the net in the ninth minute. Luis Labrada strengthened their position with a goal in the 36th minute, establishing a comfortable lead at halftime of 2-0. National player Raheem Deterville pulled one back for All Saints United in the 59th minute before Renay Serrano sealed the victory for Grenades with a 77th-minute strike. The win gives Grenades a four-point advantage on 32 points with United remaining on 28 points in second place with a game in hand.
In the other encounters, Potters Tigers FC claimed a notable away win, defeating Greenbay Hoppers FC 3-1. Javorn Benjamin scored twice for Tigers, complementing Keon Greene’s early goal, while Javorn Stevens netted the lone response for Hoppers.
FC Aston Villa edged Five Islands FC 2-1 in a match that saw both teams reduced to 10 men. Goals from Tyrik Hughes and Rakeem Joseph put Villa in control before both Joseph and Five Islands’ Brandon Emanuel were dismissed for violent conduct in the 77th minute.
Darbel Nado Tito scored a late consolation for Five Islands.
