The Grenades FC went under to defending champions Central FC in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championships on Sunday night, losing 3-1 in the opening contest of Group A in the final round of the competition at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad.
The Antiguans started with a bang however, taking the lead in minute six via a Tevaughn Harriette strike.
Central pulled a goal back 31 minutes later through Jason Marcano while Carlos Edwards made it 2-1 in favour of Central FC just before the interval.
An 85th minute conversion from Nathaniel Garcia sealed the deal for the defending champs.
Grenades must now win against Cibao of the Dominican Republic on Tuesday night if they are to keep their qualifying hopes alive.
Meanwhile in Group, San Juan Jabloteh defeated Racing des Gonaives of Haiti 2-0 when they also met at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.
Nathan Lewis and Joseph Mitchelson were the goal scorers for the triumphant team.
The group matches are being played on a round-robin basis with the winners of each group advancing to the final, while the runners-up advance to the third place match.
The top four teams will also qualify for the 2017–18 CONCACAF Champions League.
