Sandals/Inet Grenades leaped to the top of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Premier Division on Monday following a comfortable 3-0 victory over former champions Samantha Marshall SAP.
Contesting the opening match of a double-header at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG), Grenades dominated the contest from start to finish, getting goals from Vashami Allen in minute 39, Andrus Remy in minute 51 and Teran Williams on minute 69.
The victory lifts Grenades to six points, leveled with five other teams. Grenades however boast a better goal-difference with plus three, one more than Swetes, Hoppers and Old Road who all have plus two averages.
SAP remains at the bottom of the standings without a point after two outings.
Meanwhile, Drahz/KFC Old Road clinched a 1-0 victory over Asot’s Arcade Parham in Monday’s feature contest. National player, Stefan Smith, scored the only goal of the contest when he netted in minute 45.
Old Road now sits fourth on the standings with six points while Parham slips to fifth, also with six points.
On Sunday, Cool & Smooth Greenbay Hoppers defeated PIC Liberta Blackhawks 2-0 while Richie Rich Five Islands beat FC Aston Villa also by a 2-0 margin.
