Premier Division championship hopefuls, Grenades FC, survived a scare on Wednesday after scoring in the final 16 minutes of their encounter against Bullets FC to pull off a 2-2 draw at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG).
Playing in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Premier Division, Grenades went on the offensive early in the contest and found success in as early as the ninth minute via a Rakeem Henry strike.
Celebrations turned to dismay four minutes later however, as Marvin Martain brought Bullets back into the contest with his 13th minute equaliser. Joy then came for Bullets in minute 41 after a Marckens Dorsica strike put them ahead just four minutes to the interval.
Grenades were however determined to leave the ARG with at least one point and Henry put his name on the score sheet for a second time in the contest when, in minute 74, he pushed home from close range to draw his team level at 2-2.
The single point pushes Grenades onto four points after two outings and fourth in the standings while Bullets also moves to four points as they are fifth in the standings.
Defending champions, Parham FC, continues to lead the standings with six points.
The competition continues Saturday when Swetes FC face Tryum FC at 5 p.m. and Parham play SAP at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, Five Islands and Pigotts Bullets clash at 3 p.m., Greenbay Hoppers and Empire meet at 5 p.m. while Grenades and Old Road face off in the feature match at 7 p.m.
