Four young women who have claimed to have experienced racism from a bar owner have released an official media statement calling for the government to investigate the establishment.

This release comes after calls have been made to boycott the Kon Tiki Bar and Grill at Dickenson Bay, due to accusations of racial abuse on the part of its owners. Emma Thompson, one of the co-owners, is the subject of posts by patrons who claim that they’ve had insults hurled at them. The initial social media post has garnered almost 200 shares on Facebook.

Despite the harsh reviews, the growing tourist attraction is ranked number 25 out of 120 restaurants in the St. John’s area on TripAdvisor.
