All government offices and statutory bodies will be closing early today to allow public servants time to attend the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 semi-finals at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
Attorney General Steadroy “Cutie” Benjamin made the announcement in Parliament on Tuesday. He stated that all government offices will be closed at 1 p.m. ahead of the games at the stadium. The shortened work day applies to all government employees and employees of statutory corporations.
The minister also appealed to private sector businesses to also give workers the time off, describing attendance at the games as a national duty. The first semi-final match is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. today with West Indies versus Australia, while the second is slated to begin at 8 p.m., featuring India versus England.
The final of the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 will be on Saturday, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, featuring the winners of the two semi final matches.
