Antigua and Barbuda’s government is accelerating efforts to modernize its border entry system, with plans to eliminate paper-based Electronic Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Cards by year-end.
Three competing firms have presented proposals to key stakeholders, including the Customs and Excise Division, Immigration Department, Inland Revenue Department, and officials from the Tourism and Finance Ministries during this week’s Cabinet meeting.
The new system promises enhanced marketing capabilities, improved research functions, and integration with police databases for security screening.
The final selection among the three vendors will prioritize cost considerations, with implementation targeted before December 31.
