In terms of subsequent accomplishments, Dr. Jose Humphrey has journeyed far beyond his initial medical degree obtained from the Guyana-based American International School of Medicine (AISM).
Many persons have expressed the view that the resistance he faced from the medical establishment in his home country has a lot to with entrenched prejudices against the so-called offshore medical schools – despite Antigua and Barbuda being the proud base for several such institutions, including the prestigious American University of Antigua (AUA).
Dr. Humphreys has gained a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Internal Medicine from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, which has consistently ranked in the world’s top 50 universities; and presently ranked at number 18 in the world by QS World University Rankings 2019.
The pre-requisites for that Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine Program include, in the University of Edinburgh’s own words: “A medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) or a UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, in a clinically relevant subject. You must have work experience in a clinical context.”
