Garden Stars racked up their 16th victory in 18 matches in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Second Division on Monday, hammering Glanvilles 11-1 to stay atop Zone A with 48 points.
In what has been the largest margin of victory across all divisions so far this season, Jahred Williams led the charge with a hattrick, hitting the back of the net in minutes 14, 45 and 53, while Norris Hope and Omri Simpson both scored twice. Hope scored in minutes 10 and 24 while Omri had goals in minutes 18 and 60.
There were single conversions from Terek Charles (minute 21), Omar Simpson (27 minute), Tyrea Francis (minute 67) and Wilden Cornwall (minute 73) in the huge victory. James Simpson was the lone scorer for Glanvilles, netting in minute 14.
Garden Stars are three points ahead of Bendals but have played 18 matches, two more than Bendals.
In another Zone A match-up, Lion Hill defeated Mahico Stars 2-0 to move into the third position with 41 points. Calroy Douglas and Kwesi Sampson were on target for the victors in minutes 19 and 72 respectively.
Mahico Stars are second from bottom with just four points from their 17 showings thus far.
There was victory as well for Attacking Saints as they beat English Harbour 3-1 also in Zone A. Devonta Geron netted in minutes 56 and 73 to record a double strike while Joshua Samuel scored the other goal for Saints. They move to 38 points and fifth in the standings.
Gerique George scored Harbour’s only goal in the 20th minute as they remain in the fourth position with 40 points.
In the other match played on Monday, Real Blizzard defeated Urlings 2-0. Taharie James and Carl Hampson were on target for Blizzard as they move to 26 points from 18 showings also in Zone A.
