Freetown captures 35 Overs crown

The Freetown Cricket Club has been crowned champions of the Antigua Commercial Bank/Dave Joseph 35 Overs Parish League Competition following a 73 runs victory over Police in the finals contested Saturday in Freetown.
Batting first, Freetown raised a total of 167 before they were all out. Javier Drew was their chief runs getter with 37 while Hanzel James and Austin Richards Jr. contributed with 26 and 25 runs respectively.
Bowling for the lawmen, James Cornelius picked up two wickets for 11 runs and Milton Jeremy grabbed two for 27.
Police, in reply, could only get to 95 before they were all out. Jeremy was the only batsman of note, hitting 23 runs in his team’s small total.
Bowling for the home team, Jarel Phillip claimed two wickets for just one run and Richards Jr snatched two wickets for 12 runs.
Freetown, in their semifinal match-up, qualified under the Duckworth/ Lewis & Stern method after rain stopped play against St. Paul’s.
Freetown had amassed 169 all out while St. Paul’s were 49 for three off 11.2 overs when rain stopped play.
In the other semifinal match, police defeated Pigotts by 63 runs. The lawmen posted a huge 222 for seven off 32 overs before restricting Pigotts to just 159 from the same number of overs.
